How to translate subtitles
- Upload your subtitle file
Upload a video and corresponding subtitle file (or just a subtitle file) into the Kapwing studio. To do this, navigate to the “Subtitles” section in the left-hand sidebar. Click the “Upload SRT / VTT” button and upload from your computer. Note: If you don’t already have a video in your studio, you’ll need to upload or link to one to access the Subtitles feature. This won’t affect your subtitle translation project.
- Translate and edit
You’ll then see your original file’s transcript. Click the “Translate Subtitles” icon at the top right of this section, choose the original language (or use auto-detect) as well as the language you’d like to translate to, then click “Translate.” From there, you can edit your new transcript to make an SRT file or VTT file, edit your existing video to include your new subtitles, or create a video from scratch using more than 100 built-in editing tools.
- Export your new subtitles
If you want to download a new subtitle file, click the download icon at the top right of your new subtitle translation. You’ll see the option to download an SRT, VTT, or TXT file. If you decided to create a video, hit “Export Project” at the top right of your dashboard and choose your export settings. You’re then free to download your new MP4 or share the link with your team, friends, or family.
