How to Make a SoundCloud Banner Image

There are millions of users on SoundCloud, which means that you are going to be fighting for attention among them all. You will need to find ways to refine your brand: one opportunity to do so is your profile's banner image.

With a good banner image, you can not only make your profile look more professional, but also give listeners a taste of your style. It's a big part of your SoundCloud profile,

  1. Create and Edit Banner Image in Kapwing
  2. Export Banner Image from Kapwing
  3. Upload Banner Image to SoundCloud

Step 1: Create and Edit Banner Image in Kapwing

Before you upload your banner image to SoundCloud, you want to make sure that it's formatted correctly. To format and edit your picture, go to Kapwing.com, and click Start Editing to enter the  Kapwing Studio, a free online editor for photos and videos.

If you have an image that you want to use already on your computer, then go ahead and click on Upload a File. Find the image and it will be uploaded into the Kapwing editing studio. You also can search Google or browse millions of stock images using the Images tool, found on the left side of your screen.

Start by formatting your image with the dimensions required for SoundCloud banners: 2480x520 pixels. Click on the Custom Size button under Output Size on the right side of the Studio. In this pop-up, enter 2480 in the width field and 520 in the height field.

You can enter your custom dimensions into the text boxes.

You can now use all of Kapwing's editing tools to create your banner image. Add some text with any font, color you want, adjust some of the coloring, and add any more shapes or pictures that you want to have in it.

Kapwing lets you add a variety of text-styles to your image.

In order to add some text to your banner for some flair, you can look to the left-side of your screen for the Text icon. Click on this and a new menu will appear, on which you can choose from a variety of different text options and styles. You can look through everything on the menu and find which one is right for you.

Selecting one will bring up a text box on your image, in which you can type whatever you want and then place the text anywhere on the image.

Make sure to keep all the important parts of your banner out of the left quarter of the canvas. This is where your profile picture will be displayed on top of your banner, so listeners won't be able to see anything behind it.

Step 2: Export and Download Your Banner

It’s now time to export your image from Kapwing, which can be done by clicking on the Export Image button in the top-right corner of your screen. When you click on this, your banner image will be sent to Kapwing’s cloud services for processing.

You’ll be taken to a new screen where you can choose what to do with your new banner image. Select Download to save the image straight to your computer's files.

Step 3: Upload Banner Image to SoundCloud

With you banner image ready to go, head to SoundCloud.

You can access your profile from the SoundCloud mainpage.

On the main page, look in the upper-right area of your screen to where your profile name is shown. You can click on your name to open a dropdown menu on which you can select Profile.

From your profile, you can change your banner image.

This will take you to your profile page, where you will see your banner image and profile picture on display. In order to upload your new banner image, look for the Upload header image in the upper-right area of your screen.

Clicking on this will bring up a window for you to find your banner image and upload it to your profile. You can now adjust the size and position of your banner image to make sure that it looks just how you want it to.

When it looks how you want it, you can Save your new banner image.

When it’s where it needs to be, click on Save and you’re all done.

With your new banner image, your SoundCloud is going to look even better and it will help you draw in more listeners to check out your music!
