How to Delete TikTok Now Posts and Memories

TikTok Now, TikTok's BeReal lookalike feature, is all about being candid in the moment. But what if you want to delete that moment? In this article, I'll teach you how to access and delete your TikTok Now posts and Now Memories in the app.

How to Delete TikTok Now Posts and Memories

On September 15th, 2022, TikTok announced TikTok Now. This is TikTok's take on the simultaneous or dual camera concept/feature that has been garnering popularity across multiple social media platforms, including Instagram and Snapchat. Of course, just like TikTok, those platforms were all merely jumping on the bandwagon of BeReal's wildfire success.

Put simply, TikTok Now is more or less a BeReal clone.

Not only does Now copy the simultaneous/dual camera feature that BeReal pioneered, but it also prompts its users to post a photo of themselves once a day within a given amount of time (3 minutes), pushing for genuineness and authenticity in each post.

That being said, being authentic at any given moment doesn't always allow us to take the most flattering photos of ourselves. It also opens us up to our friends potentially screenshotting said unflattering photos. Fortunately, BeReal and TikTok Now both allow us to delete posts we might not be satisfied with... before it's too late.

In this article, I'll cover some of the basics of TikTok Now and show you how to delete your TikTok Now posts:

Let's get started!

How to Access TikTok Now

Whether you have an iPhone or an Android, first make sure your TikTok app is up to date. For users in the U.S., you should be able to find the new Now tab located to the right of the Home tab at the bottom left corner of the screen.

Note: Can't find the Now tab? If you're not a U.S. user, you may be able to download the new TikTok Now app instead, which is separate from the main TikTok experience. If you are a U.S. user, jump to this section of the article to trouble shoot.

Tap the Now tab. If you haven't already posted your daily TikTok Now, you'll be prompted to post one.

To start taking your daily TikTok Now, press the Post button.

Take your TikTok Now. You have three minutes to snap your pic and can retake the photo as many times as you like within that window.

Once you're satisfied with your photo, tap the button above the blue checkmark to choose you visibility settings: Friends or Everyone.

Once you're all set, just tap the checkmark to post your TikTok Now.

Your post should now appear on your Now page with a timestamp located in the bottom left corner.

How to Delete a TikTok Now

First, locate your TikTok Now post on your Now page.

Then, press the arrow towards the bottom right corner of the screen, find the Delete button indicated by a garbage can icon, and tap it.

You should then be prompted with the question Delete this Now? If you're sure you want to remove your TikTok Now, just press Delete. It will delete the post and, if you're still within the window for the Now, you'll be prompted to take and post another Now.

So, what happens if you want to delete a Now but it's not on your Now page anymore? You can still access and delete it from your Now Memories page. Here's how:

From the Now tab, click on the Now Memories button at the top of the page.

From here, you'll see a calendar view of all the TikTok Now posts you've taken in the last month. Tap on the post you'd like to delete. You'll see the Share arrow above the photo, on the right side of your screen.

Tap the arrow to open the Share menu then tap the Delete icon at the bottom of your screen and confirm by hitting Delete again. Your TikTok Now will no longer show up in your Memories.

Why Can't I Access TikTok Now?

If you don't see the TikTok Now tab in your app, there could be a couple of reasons for that.

The most likely reason is that TikTok Now is not yet available in app in your region. According to TikTok's announcement, regions outside of the U.S. may be able to download the separate TikTok Now app instead.

If you're a U.S. user and you don't see the Now tab in your app, it could be a bug. Try exiting and refreshing the app.

As you can see in the image above, this is clearly a bug. The in-app push telling me to post my Now is pointing to the Discover tab.

Fortunately, exiting and closing the app, then opening it again seems to do the trick. If refreshing the app doesn't resolve the issue, check your app permissions. I've noticed that if I open TikTok when the microphone and camera permissions are turned off, I won't see the Now tab on my control bar, just the old Discover tab.

TikTok Now has only been rolled out to the public for a few days at the time of writing this, so hopefully these little bugs will be resolved shortly.

If you're just wondering why you can't see any of your friends' TikTok Now posts, it's probably because you haven't posted your own Now for the day.

Like BeReal, TikTok Now has a no creeping policy, which is pretty much the opposite of how the rest of TikTok operates. If you want to see your friends' Nows, you'll have to snap a selfie, too.
